Sigma introduces the world’s first hybrid camera lens with an approximately 18.8x zoom ratio.
Powerful and portable, the 16-300mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS | Contemporary delivers outstanding results in every situation.
The brand-new Sigma 16-300mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS | Contemporary offers a focal length range of 18.8x, the largest1 in the world for an APS-C hybrid lens. Covering the full range from wide-angle to super-telephoto, this extremely versatile lens puts every subject within reach, from landscapes to portraits, wildlife, flora, and sports photography.
With a maximum reproduction ratio of 1:2, the 16-300 mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS | Contemporary achieves close-up shots with ease and detail. Its HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) motor ensures exceptionally fast, smooth and precise autofocus, ideal for fast-moving subjects such as birds and aircraft. The lens provides 6-stop image stabilisation at wide-angle and 4.5-stop stabilisation2 at telephoto, allowing photographers to achieve sharp results even at longer focal lengths and in low light. This ultra-versatile all-in-one zoom is the ideal companion for creative photographers who want to work across a wide range of photographic styles.
Wide-angle, super-telephoto and macro photography in a single lens
The world’s first 18.8x zoom with a 16 mm wide-angle focal length
The Sigma 16-300mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS | Contemporary is the world’s first hybrid lens with an 18.8x focal length ratio. Equivalent to a 24-450 mm on full frame, this portable lens covers every field, from wide-angle for landscapes and interiors to super-telephoto for sport, wildlife, flora and aviation.
1. Approximately 25.6-480 mm for the Canon RF version.
Maximum reproduction ratio of 1:2 at 70 mm for striking close-ups
With a maximum reproduction ratio of 1:2 at 70 mm, the Sigma 16-300 mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS | Contemporary delivers excellent close-up performance, ideal for capturing flowers, insects and other small subjects in fine detail. With a maximum reproduction ratio of 1:3 at wide-angle and 1:4 at telephoto, photographers have access to a broad range of creative expression.
Small, light and easy to carry
Despite its impressive 16 to 300 mm focal range, the Sigma 16-300 mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS | Contemporary stands out for its exceptional portability: it measures just 73.8 mm in diameter by 121.4 mm in length and weighs only 615 g. This is achieved through refined mechanical and optical design, including an element made of high-refractive-index glass.
Ultra-fast autofocus and image stabilisation for effortless shooting and guaranteed results
Greater autofocus speed and precision thanks to the HLA autofocus motor
To help photographers capture the most fleeting moments, the Sigma 16-300mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS | Contemporary uses an HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) motor to deliver high-speed autofocus with excellent drive precision.
Exceptional optical stabilisation thanks to the OS2 algorithm
Inspired by the same technology as the Sigma super-telephoto lenses used by professional wildlife and sports photographers, the Sigma 16-300mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS | Contemporary features optical stabilisation of 6 stops at wide-angle and 4.5 stops at telephoto1. The latest OS2 stabilisation algorithm provides optimal image stabilisation to reduce the effects of camera shake, helping photographers achieve sharp results without a tripod, even in low light and across the full zoom range.
Equipped with a zoom ring lock switch for the wide-angle position. The Sigma 16-300mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS | Contemporary has a zoom ring lock switch that can be engaged at the wide-angle position to prevent the lens from extending.
Dust- and splash-resistant construction1 and water-repellent coating. Designed to assist photographers in all environments, the Sigma 16-300mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS | Contemporary features a dust- and splash-resistant structure for use in demanding conditions. In addition, the front element has a water- and oil-repellent coating that helps keep the lens free of dirt.
Uncompromised optical quality that redefines superzoom performance
High, consistent image quality across the entire focal range. Thanks to its advanced optical design with 1 FLD element, 4 SLD elements and 4 aspherical elements, the lens offers excellent aberration correction and delivers sharp results across the entire focal and focus range.
Designed to minimise flare and ghosting. By measuring light incidence in all conditions and using next-generation simulation technology, the Sigma 16-300mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS | Contemporary provides superior resistance to flare and ghosting, allowing photographers to capture sharp, clear images even in the most challenging lighting conditions, as an all-in-one lens should.
Focus breathing* eliminated for consistent framing. The Sigma 16-300mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS | Contemporary is designed to effectively suppress focus breathing*, making it a perfect choice for filmmakers and photographers working with multi-shot techniques such as focus stacking. Across the full focal range, changes in angle of view during focusing are minimised.
