The lens covers the 20 mm ultra-wide focal length, which was difficult to achieve with conventional high-ratio zooms. Suitable for every situation, from majestic landscapes to sport, this lens captures ultra-wide scenes perfectly and makes the most of its telephoto range. With a full zoom range from 20 mm to 200 mm, this ultimate all-in-one zoom delivers stunning detail in a wide variety of shooting situations.
Maximum reproduction ratio of 1:2 for focal lengths between 28 and 85 mm
The lens achieves a maximum reproduction ratio of 1:2 at focal lengths between 28 mm and 85 mm, allowing photographers to enjoy a wide range of semi-macro photography with different viewing angles, from macro shots at wide-angle that boldly incorporate the background as you approach the subject, to macro shots at medium telephoto that showcase the subject at a natural distance.
A compact, lightweight design offering exceptional freedom of movement
This lens is the world’s first to offer an extended zoom range from 20 mm wide-angle to 200 mm telephoto, while weighing just 550 g and measuring only 115.5 mm in length*1. The zoom ring diameter is very small (70.4 mm), making it very easy to carry. Without worrying about its size or weight, this lens gives you great creative flexibility in every situation, from everyday snapshots to travel photography.

Optical and mechanical design combining compactness with high performance
The use of high-refractive-index glass materials reduces lens movement during zooming. This allows for a simple internal structure and a compact lens design.
The optical design, which correctly positions four double-sided aspherical lenses, one FLD glass element and three SLD glass elements, combined with an internal mechanism that maintains high precision in each zoom group, also delivers high performance across the entire zoom range.
High-speed AF driven by HLA
To help photographers capture even the most fleeting moments, the lens uses an HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) motor to achieve high-speed autofocus with excellent drive precision.
Dust- and splash-resistant construction*2 and water- and oil-repellent coating
In addition to its dust- and splash-resistant construction, the front element features a water- and oil-repellent coating, allowing photographers to shoot with confidence, even in challenging outdoor environments.
*2 The construction is designed to resist dust and splashes but is not waterproof. Take care not to expose the lens to large amounts of water. Water inside the lens can cause serious damage and may render the lens irreparable.
Equipped with a zoom lock switch at the wide-angle end
The lens has a zoom lock switch that can be used at the wide-angle position to prevent the lens from extending under its own weight. The lock can be released not only with the switch but also via the zoom ring, allowing flexible handling even during spontaneous shooting.
Designed to minimise flare and ghosting
Flare and incident light, which reduce image quality, are controlled under all light incidence conditions thanks to next-generation simulation technology. High resistance to backlighting delivers clear, sharp images in all lighting conditions.
