Revolutionise your portraits with the world’s first*1 135 mm F1.4 autofocus lens.
The Sigma 135 mm F1.4 DG | Art is the world’s first autofocus 135 mm lens to reach a maximum aperture of F1.4, offering exceptional expressive capabilities for portrait photography.
Its incomparable bokeh and stunning resolution reproduce every detail and create an extraordinary sense of depth and dimensionality.
The natural perspective and moderate shooting distance characteristic of 135 mm, combined with the beautiful bokeh of the F1.4 maximum aperture, allow the subject to stand out and deliver a rendering on a completely different level from conventional 135 mm F1.8 lenses.
Drawing on extensive expertise gained through the development of numerous F1.4 prime lenses, this new 135 mm lens from Sigma sets a new benchmark in portrait photography.
*1 From September 2025, according to Sigma.
Unmatched wide bokeh opens up new expressive possibilities.
The most remarkable feature of the Sigma 135 mm F1.4 DG | Art is its extremely wide bokeh. The effective aperture diameter*1 of the 135 mm F1.4 lens produces exceptional bokeh, wider than that of the Sigma 105 mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art, known as the “Bokeh Master”, and comparable to that of the Sigma 200 mm F2 DG OS | Sports.
The unique natural perspective of 135 mm, combined with its exceptional bokeh, makes the subject stand out and creates three-dimensional portraits that only this lens can deliver.
*1 The effective aperture diameter is calculated by dividing the focal length by the F-number (aperture). It refers to the diameter of the light beam forming the image at the centre of the image sensor. A larger effective aperture results in shallower depth of field and more pronounced bokeh.
Optical design optimised to produce natural bokeh
Thorough correction of chromatic aberration, which is common in telephoto lenses, delivers sharp bokeh without colour fringing.
The design also minimises vignetting, making the bokeh natural and almost circular, even at the edges, by taking full advantage of the maximum aperture.
Sigma craftsmanship behind this beautiful bokeh
A 13-blade diaphragm maintains a circular bokeh shape, while the exceptional precision of aspherical lens processing further enhances its softness.
This beautiful natural bokeh is the result of the expertise Sigma has acquired over many years of developing F1.4 prime lenses, and of the advanced manufacturing technology refined at its Aizu factory.
Precision optics for exceptionally detailed portraits
Sharp details even at full aperture
Four large FLD glass elements are used, along with strategically placed high-dispersion glass elements to completely eliminate axial chromatic aberration, which tends to be more pronounced in wide-aperture telephoto lenses. As a result, the lens delivers sharp details even at maximum aperture, fully exploiting the exceptionally shallow depth of field characteristic of a 135 mm F1.4.
Floating focus system for consistent sharpness
A dynamic focusing system moves the two focusing lens groups independently, ensuring consistently high resolution across the entire focus range.
Designed to minimise flare and ghosting
Flare and incident light, which reduce image quality, are controlled under all light incidence conditions thanks to the most advanced simulation technology and Sigma’s Super Multi-Layer Coating. High resistance to backlighting delivers clear, sharp images in all lighting conditions.
Fast, precise autofocus to capture fleeting expressions
Dual HLA for fast, precise autofocus
Each of the two focusing groups is driven by its own HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) motor, forming a dual HLA system. By integrating two distinct types of HLA motor, each optimised for the travel range of one focusing group, the dual HLA system provides both the power required for wide-aperture telephoto lenses and fast, precise AF performance. This enables reliable capture of fleeting expressions and fast-moving subjects.
A wealth of features for professional use and excellent build quality
Various functions to facilitate shooting
This lens features an AFL button in two positions, which can be assigned to various functions via the menu of certain cameras. In addition to the aperture ring, the lens is equipped with an aperture ring lock switch and a switch to enable or disable the aperture ring click.
Dust- and splash-resistant construction*1 and water- and oil-repellent coating
In addition to its dust- and splash-resistant construction, the front element of the lens features a water- and oil-repellent coating, allowing photographers to shoot with confidence, even in challenging outdoor environments.
*1 The construction is designed to resist dust and splashes but is not waterproof. Take care not to expose the lens to large amounts of water. Water inside the lens can cause serious damage and may render the lens irreparable.
Excellent build quality and specifications of Sigma’s Art line
Metal components such as aluminium and magnesium alloys are combined with engineering plastics such as TSC*2, strategically placed throughout the structure. This balances the durability required to support the optical system of a large-diameter lens with the lightness needed for comfortable handling. The Art line offers remarkable rigidity, durability and build quality for long-term reliability.
*2 TSC (Thermally Stable Composite) is a type of polycarbonate whose coefficient of thermal expansion is similar to that of aluminium. It has a strong affinity with metal parts, which contributes to the manufacture of high-quality products.
Arca-Swiss compatible tripod collar for long studio sessions
The lens comes with a lightweight yet robust tripod collar made of magnesium alloy and compatible with the Arca-Swiss standard. It offers excellent stability during studio sessions and extended shoots, allowing photographers to stay focused on their creative expression. The tripod collar is also detachable and can be replaced with the protective strap supplied.
Lens hood supplied with a button lock mechanism
The supplied lens hood features a button lock mechanism for secure attachment and removal. It is made of CFRP, a carbon-fibre reinforced polycarbonate material, which makes it both lightweight and durable.
