We drew on our expertise in image processing technology developed for Foveon sensors. Thanks to its very high resolution, the SIGMA fp L is able to unleash your imagination and features a low-pass filter that contributes to optical performance.

The SIGMA fp L features a Bayer sensor with approx. 61 million effective pixels, more than any previous SIGMA camera. In addition to images with fine detail, the fp L is capable of producing high-definition, colour-rich images, thanks to its ultra-high pixel count and SIGMA's experience developing cameras with Foveon sensors, which are renowned both for their exceptional resolving power and for the subtle colour gradations resulting from the unique nature of the X3 sensor. Moreover, given the reputation of the Foveon sensor for image quality essentially free of colour artefacts, the decision to fit the fp L with a low-pass filter to reduce moiré to minimal levels was also made. Using a low-pass filter was a logical choice for a camera with a high megapixel count such as the SIGMA fp L.

A high pixel count means images can withstand extreme zooms or crops. This is one of the advantages of a very high pixel-count camera that led SIGMA to equip the fp L with a crop zoom function that works in both STILL and CINE modes. Thanks to its many millions of pixels (approx. 61 million effective pixels), the fp L can record in Full HD quality, even at its maximum 5x zoom; this is achieved through simple cropping, without digital processing and without any loss of image quality. For more intuitive use, you can pinch to zoom on the LCD touchscreen.

Hybrid autofocus

In addition to high-precision contrast-detection autofocus, the SIGMA fp L features fast on-sensor phase-detection autofocus. This hybrid AF gives users smooth, highly precise and rapid autofocus, excellent at tracking a moving subject, whether shooting photos or video.
Unlimited power supply
Long hours of uninterrupted power via USB-C cable.
The SIGMA fp L can be charged via USB cable while in use. You can shoot photos without interruption while charging the camera from a power bank, even outdoors or when no power outlet is available. When used as a webcam, simply connect the fp L to a PC via USB and it operates as an audio and video input device while being powered by the PC. This means you can use it for many hours without worrying about the battery running down.
