The best ever, now improved: the exceptional resolving power and magnificent bokeh of Sigma's world-leading 35mm F1.2, in a smaller and lighter lens.
In 2019, Sigma launched the 35mm F1.2 DG DN | Art, the world's first full-frame mirrorless lens with an F1.2 maximum aperture. Six years later, Sigma is proud to present its successor, the 35mm F1.2 DG II | Art.
Designed and manufactured using Sigma's latest-generation technologies, the 35mm F1.2 DG II | Art delivers not only improved optical performance but also considerably greater portability, thanks to a significant reduction in size of approximately 30%. Through its optimised design, this lens offers unmatched rendering power, high-resolution clarity and magnificent bokeh in a more manageable form. Focus Breathing* is also minimised, ensuring outstanding results not only for photography but also for video.
* change in framing when focus is adjusted
The Sigma 35mm F1.2 DG II | Art is an exceptional, uncompromising lens that offers a perfect balance of optical performance, brightness, compact size, lightness and ease of use.
Magnificent bokeh and incomparable visual impact, with sharp rendering from F1.2
Extreme suppression of chromatic aberration and sagittal coma
The Sigma 35mm F1.2 DG II | Art offers even better optical performance than its predecessor, with exceptional clarity across the entire image, even at the F1.2 maximum aperture. The use of SLD glass, a highly refractive glass with high anomalous dispersion, and four double-sided aspherical elements moulded from glass fully corrects axial chromatic aberration and sagittal coma, while considerably reducing the size of the lens.
Exceptional sharpness and magnificent bokeh achieved through the F1.2 aperture.
When designing the 35mm F1.2 DG II | Art, Sigma paid particular attention to correcting the various optical aberrations that affect image quality. Thanks to these meticulous efforts, the lens delivers exceptional sharpness and magnificent bokeh that eliminates colour fringing and double lines. Photographers will appreciate the rich, expressive rendering and the beautiful interplay between sharp and blurred areas, especially when shooting at the F1.2 maximum aperture.
Minimal focus breathing*
Optimising the layout of the focus group and the aspherical design considerably reduces focus breathing*. Any change in angle of view when the focusing distance is changed is therefore effectively limited, making this lens an ideal choice for professional video use.
* change in framing when focus is adjusted
Designed to minimise flare and ghosting
Flare and ghosting, which reduce image quality, are controlled under all light incidence conditions thanks to the latest-generation simulation technology. High resistance to backlighting ensures clear, sharp images in all lighting conditions.
Significantly reduced dimensions and weight
Improved performance, reduced size and lighter weight thanks to the floating focus system
The Sigma 35mm F1.2 DG II | Art offers even better optical performance than its predecessor while being approximately 30% lighter and 20% shorter. One of the key factors behind this improvement is the adoption of a floating focus design: by allowing the lens groups to move independently of one another, the weight of each lens group has been considerably reduced while optical performance has been improved. In addition, the enhanced optical design includes four aspherical lenses, high-refractive-index glass and thinner lenses, all contributing to its outstanding performance.
Fast, silent autofocus with dual HLA system
The dual HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) system drives each of the two focus groups using an individual linear motor. Furthermore, the use of multiple magnets in each motor allows a compact focusing unit to be designed without sacrificing driving power. Compared with conventional cam-based systems, the dual HLA system is not only much lighter but also ensures fast, reliable and silent autofocus.
Designed and manufactured for professional use
A reliable and durable tool for photographic expression
Manufactured and assembled in Aizu, Japan, from high-precision aluminium, TSC*1 and other materials, the 35mm F1.2 DG II | Art is a sophisticated and durable photographic tool, designed to the specifications of Sigma's Art line.
*1 TSC (Thermally Stable Composite) is a type of polycarbonate whose coefficient of thermal expansion is similar to that of aluminium. It has a strong affinity with metal parts, which contributes to the manufacture of high-quality products.
A range of shooting assistance functions
The lens features an AFL button to which various functions can be assigned on compatible cameras. In addition, the aperture ring can be locked using the dedicated lock switch and switched between click and declick modes using the dedicated switch.
Dust- and splash-resistant structure*2 and water- and oil-repellent coating
In addition to a dust- and splash-resistant structure, the front lens element features a water- and oil-repellent coating, allowing photographers to shoot with confidence even in demanding outdoor environments.
*2 The structure is designed to resist dust and splashes but is not waterproof. Take care not to expose the lens to large amounts of water. Water entering the lens may cause serious damage and may even render the lens irreparable.
Petal-shaped lens hood with locking mechanism
The Sigma 35mm F1.2 DG II | Art comes with a dedicated petal-shaped lens hood that shields the front element from stray light to reduce the risk of unwanted flare. The hood attaches securely to the lens via a locking mechanism.
